  • JANUARY RETURN TO SCHOOL - Updated 4th January

    Wed 30 Dec 2020

4th January final update - we are open

    WELCOME BACK

We are fully open tomorrow as planned.  As a school staff, we have spent the morning fully reviewing our risk assessments and we will be open tomorrow as normal.  There will be a few additional safety measures for our school site and I will update you with these later this afternoon (most are reminders).  We very much look forward to welcoming you all back 😊

2nd January Update to previous information shared on 30th December:

A brief update on the post below: there has been a lot of speculation in the news about primary schools moving to remote for the first two weeks of term.  This is not yet government guidance (which has never been timely or helpful for families) so at this time we will be open for all children on Tuesday as planned.

However, if this changes we will communicate our plans immediately which will involve:
    - offering places for key worker and vulnerable children
    - getting remote learning set up as swiftly as possible to avoid children missing crucial things education.

If you have any questions, please ask.  We will answer as quickly as possible and try to be clear amongst all the confusion.

    Information shared on 30th December:

A quick update following the government announcement today and our move into Tier 4.

We have a training day on Monday 4th January as planned and will be open to all children on Tuesday 5th January.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all back for the start of a new term.

  • Christmas Performances - where to find them

    Thu 17 Dec 2020

    Dear Parent/Carer,

We always love preparing performances for your children to share with you and your family every year, however COVID-19 has prevented us from doing our usual all-singing, all-dancing extravaganzas!

We wanted to still be able to share some Christmas cheer with you, and have found other ways of rehearsing safely (including singing outside!).  Each year group has prepared something musical to share with you which, we hope, will fill you with some Christmas cheer.

Where will I find the performances:

    • Nursery: these have been shared on Tapestry by Mrs McArdle (please get in touch if you can’t see them)
    • Reception-Y6: these performances can be viewed on our website (menu – children – class pages – performances, shows and events), on our Facebook page (Fordley Primary), on our YouTube account (Fordley Primary), and short clips on our Twitter account (@FordleyPrimary).  We will also try to upload the performances onto Tapestry for Reception and Seesaw for Y1-Y6.

We very much hope you enjoy them.

    Yours sincerely,

  • Christmas Jumper Day - Friday 18th December

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

    CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY—FRIDAY 18th DECEMBER 2020

Every year we hold our Christmas jumper day on the last day of the Autumn term (Friday 18th December). As usual we ask that children wear their normal school uniform with a Christmas jumper instead of their school jumper if they wish.

We wish you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year.

    Many thanks.

  • Christmas Parties - Wednesday 16th December

    Fri 11 Dec 2020

We are so excited to be able to give the children a Christmas party next week. Things need to be a little bit different this year so please read the following information.

    • Children will have their own party in their own classroom on Wednesday.
    • Children need to come to school dressed in party clothes which they will wear all day.
    • We will send home a party bag on Tuesday with your child’s name on. This is so your child can bring their own snack in with them on Wednesday. This should be 1 savoury snack and/or 1 sweet snack. We will provide each child with a biscuit, made by the catering team at school. We will also provide juice.
    • We are a nut free school so please make sure there are no nuts in their party food. This includes some chocolate spreads.
    • Sometimes children like to share, which is lovely, but could we ask that the snack you give them is only enough for them.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Christmas Lunch

    Fri 04 Dec 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    When is Christmas lunch?

Christmas lunch, for Reception to Y6 only, will take place on the following days:

    · Wednesday 9th December         -         Reception, Y1 and Y2

    · Thursday 10th December - Y3 and Y4

    · Friday 11th December - Y5 and Y6

We have had to split it over three separate days so that we minimise mixing of children from different year groups (Reception, Y1 and Y2 already have lunch in the hall at separate times, with thorough cleaning in between, so they don’t mix).  The menu is on our newsletter, on our website and on Facebook.

Will Nursery children be able to have Christmas lunch?

Unfortunately this means that our 30 hours Nursery children will not be able to have a Christmas lunch this year, as we will not be able to fit them into the hall safely.

What if my child normally has a packed lunch?

If they don’t want a school lunch, they can still eat their packed lunch in the hall on their Christmas lunch day.

If they would like a Christmas lunch, you can pay for this online by visiting https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/237/pay-school-meals .  If your child is in Reception, Y1 or Y2 there is no charge.  Please do not send any money into school for this.

What is the school lunch option when it’s not my child’s Christmas lunch day?

If your child usually has a school dinner, they will be given a packed lunch on the days that is not their Christmas lunch e.g. Y2 will have a packed lunch on Thursday and Friday next week (provided by Catering Services).  Normal menus will be in place on the Monday and Tuesday of next week and the whole of the final week of term.

If you have any questions about this, or need any advice, please give us a ring on 2502207 or email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk

    Yours sincerely,
