  • Texting service offering confidential support to parents and carers now available in North Tyneside

    Caring for a child can come with its worries and concerns about their health and wellbeing, leaving parents and carers feeling overwhelmed and looking for answers. ParentLine is an anonymous texting service to ask questions to qualified nurses. From concerns about feeding and nutrition to queries about development and behaviour teams will provide up to date information and support.

     

    Talking to a professional can help you to feel less anxious and worried and identify the best way forward. The texting service offers an informal and quick way to communicate with health professionals about any issues that may come your way.

     

    The service is available Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays). Any enquiries sent outside of these hours will be answered as soon as possible.

  • Access to Twice Weekly Testing for Parents/Carers and Childcare Bubbles

    You can get twice-weekly rapid lateral flow COVID-19 test if you are symptom free, if you are a member of a household, childcare bubble or support bubble of:  

     

    • A member of staff who work in a primary school or secondary school or
    • A pupil who attends primary or secondary school.

     

    Twice weekly testing is available through the following:

     

    Please note this does not apply to:

     

    Secondary school pupils, and primary and secondary school staff, who should take twice-weekly tests using home test kits provided by their school.

     

    Primary school pupils, as they should NOT be subject to regular asymptomatic testing and only to need to come forward for tests if they have symptoms.

     

    How to collect a home test kit from a collection point in North Tyneside

    1. Test kits can be collected from the local test sites located at The Parks Leisure Centre, Terrace Room, Howdon Road, North Shields or Coronation Street Care Park, Wallsend  between the hours of 1pm and 7pm you do not need an appointment. Other collection test sites are available and can be found here: COVID Test Finder (test-and-trace.nhs.uk)
    2. You can collect two packs of 7 rapid lateral flow self-test kits per individual and up to a maximum of 4 packs where justifiable  for example for very large or extended families.
    3. Each individual must register the test and record the results at home, using the NHS website or through the 119 call centre for positive, negative and void results.
    4. Any individual who undertakes a test at home and reports a positive lateral flow self-test MUST undertake a further test to confirm the result by ordering a PCR test online or by booking to attend for a PCR test at a local test site  here: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

     

    Home test kits MUST NOT be used for any individual who has symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone with symptoms should book to attend for a PCR test at a local test site  here: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

  • PE Days for all classes - a reminder

    Just a quick reminder of the PE days for each class (there may be a couple of changes to make sure we avoid mixing bubbles):

     

    RWM - Monday and Thursday
    RHN - Monday and Thursday


    1JR - Tuesday and Wednesday
    1BW - Monday and Tuesday


    2RS - Wednesday and Thursday
    2JP - Monday and Friday


    3/4NT - Tuesday and Wednesday
    3/4BC - Tuesday and Thursday
    3/4KC - Tuesday and Wednesday


    5/6LS - Monday and Friday
    5/6LM - Monday and Tuesday
    5/6JF - Thursday and Friday

     

    Please remember children must come into school on PE days in their PE kit (can wear tracksuit bottoms too).

  • School meals from 8th March

    Please find attached the school meal menu for the children returning next week. It is still a limited menu due to distancing restrictions for North Tyneside Catering Services staff, but includes hot or cold options each day (as well as a vegetarian option). If your child has an allergy that Catering Services are aware of, they will be catered for appropriately. If your child has a new allergy, please see next post for advice.

     

    Next week's menu is 'Week 1' on the document attached.

     

    If your child has a new allergy that we are not aware of, Catering Services will need to speak with you directly to arrange a special menu for your child. The document attached gives you more information but you will need to contact:
