  • NEW SCHOOL YEAR - Times and Drop off/Collection Points

    Mon 29 Aug 2022

Please note - this information was sent out with all children before the summer holidays

We would like to share the new school times for September 2022 (Reception to Y6).

What time does school open and where do I take my child?

The school doors for Reception to Y6 will open at 8:40 and close at 8:50.   Children will be able to come in through their designated door between those times.

    • Reception – by the doors that open onto the decking (Reception teachers will be there)
    • Y1 and Y2 – by the main Key Stage 1 ramp (Mrs Pringle will be there)
    • Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6 – by the gate leading into the main building from the Key Stage 2 yard (Mr Maule or Mrs Langley will be there)

The Y1 and Y2 entrance, and the Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 entrance will remain open until 9:00 for any latecomers.

PLEASE NOTE - After 9:00 any late children will need to be brought to the main entrance and signed in by a parent or carer.

What is the end of school day time and where do I collect my child?

The end of school day time for all children will now be 3:20pm (a return to pre-COVID collection times).

    • Reception – by the doors that open onto the decking
    • Y1 and Y2 – by their classroom doors
    • Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6 – from the Key Stage 2 yard (where the entrance for Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 is)

If you have children to collect at different points around the school site, please don’t worry as we will always keep the children with us until 3:30pm (after which point we will take them back into the building to be collected at the main entrance).

We will have ‘Breakfast Club’ available (no charge for Reception – Y6 as it is funded by Greggs) and ‘Afterschool Childcare’ available.

  • SCHOOL UNIFORM - SEPTEMBER 2022

    Mon 29 Aug 2022

Please note - this information was sent out with all children before the summer holidays

Emblematic continue to only accept online orders directly from parents and carers (in other words not through school).  To order online please visit http://studentuniform.co.uk/fps016

Delivery is free to school but £4.99 to home.  Uniform can be collected on the training day in September (Monday 5th September)

Most supermarkets stock school uniform in our school colours (just without the school logo).

Please note the school uniform policy is as follows:

    • a white polo shirt, black/grey trousers/skirt (not leggings) and a burgundy jumper/cardigan.
    • Red gingham dresses are allowed.
    • Children do not have to wear uniform with the school logo on
    • Plain flat black shoes or trainers and socks. Sandals with socks are permitted in the summer months.
    • PE kit should comprise plain black shorts and a plain white t-shirt (children will continue to come to school in their PE kit on PE days so plain black or grey tracksuit bottoms will be appropriate when the weather is cold)
    • Children must not wear any form of jewellery other than a watch.  No earrings should be worn. (If your child is getting their ears pierced please do this at the start of the summer holidays so that they can be removed in September as tape over earrings is not an adequate health and safety option.  Ear retainers can be used if absolutely needed).
    • Long hair must be tied back at all times for health and safety reasons and to help to avoid the spread of head lice.
    • Children should not wear any form of hair colouring/dye unless given permission by school staff as part of a charity/celebration event.

If you have any questions about school uniform, please email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk or ring 2502207 and we will be able to advise you.

  • BREAKFAST CLUB - SEPTEMBER 2022

    Mon 29 Aug 2022

Please note - this information was sent out with all children before the summer holidays

We are very lucky to be able to have the support of Greggs so that we can run a free Breakfast Club for any children from Reception to Y6.

This is a time for children to come to school, have breakfast with their friends and enjoy some quiet, table-top, activities before they start their school day.

Our breakfast offer includes cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt and a drink.  The expectation would be that all children who attend would have breakfast.

Who can use our Breakfast Club?

    • Any child from Reception to Y6 can use it for free
    • Nursery children (the year before they start Reception) can access it for the cost of £1 per day due to the additional staffing needed and Greggs only provide funding for Reception to Y6 (if your child is accessing 30 hours and is paying for the additional time, this is already included in the charge)

How do I book a place?

    • You do not need to officially book a place but we would be grateful if you could email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk if your child is likely to attend.  This helps us to order the right amount of food for the number of children.

When and where can I drop my child off?

    • Children attending Breakfast Club can be brought to school between 8:00 – 8:25am (no child will be able to attend after 8:25 as the staff will be finishing breakfast service and clearing up before the start of the main school day)
    • Children will need to be brought (by an adult) to the main school office door so they can be signed in by Mrs Hawdon.  This is for safeguarding and fire regulations reasons.
    • PLEASE NOTE – no parking in the car park and no entry to Breakfast Club after 8:25am.
  • FORDLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL - NEW HUB FOR THE BREAD AND BUTTER THING

    Sat 18 Jun 2022

We are very excited to be able to share that we have partnered up with the 'Bread and Butter Thing' which is a mobile food club aiming to enable people to eat more healthily, enjoy a wider variety of food and afford to feed their families.  We know how stretched everyone's money is right now and that all families will be feeling the impact of increasing food and fuel costs, amongst other financial worries.

The Bread and Butter Thing offers access to weekly groceries at a fraction of high street prices and our hub will be opening on Thursday 7th July.

It is open to all our families, our school staff and the local community and all you need to do is sign up following the steps on page 1 of the attached leaflet.

    Can You Help?

In order to make this work successfully, we are also looking for amazing volunteers who would be willing to give up some time on Thursdays (between 11:30 and 3pm on a rota basis) to help us receive the delivery and pack up to 80 sets of grocery bags.  Some of our fantastic school staff and governors have already signed up to help but we really need a team of about 20 people to make it happen.

If you would like to volunteer, or would like some more information before you do, please email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk and myself or Mrs Latimer will be in touch with you directly.  Volunteers will undertake a training session on 30th June and will be able to take home a set of groceries as a thank you.  We will also feed and water you throughout the session!
