CHRISTMAS SONG RECORDINGS THIS WEEK
As mentioned in a letter which was sent out last week, we will be recording performances of each year group's chosen Christmas songs in school on Friday (or Thursday for Y2) and we will be sharing these with you on Seesaw (as it is a secure platform). This means you have a recording to watch as many times as you like, especially if you are not able to see the live performances next week.
Class teachers have asked their classes to bring some items in for the recordings (Thursday or Friday), as they will also be using them for the live performances next week. None of the items are essential, and we do not want any families to go out and buy anything specially.
The voluntary items for each year group are listed below:
- Reception (RWM and RHN) - NOTHING NEEDED
- Year 1 (1JR and 1JP) - NOTHING NEEDED
- Year 2 (2RS and 2RB) - Christmas jumper, winter hat and a scarf (for Thursday)
- Year 3 (3NT and 3AB) - Christmas jumper (for Friday)
- Year 4 (4CS and 4DB) - pyjamas, a teddy and an optional Christmas jumper (for Friday)
- Year 5 and Year 6 (5/6JF, 5/6LS and 5/6lM) - Christmas jumper or Christmas decoration (for Friday)
A letter will be sent out tomorrow with details of the live performances next Monday (Reception, Y1 and Y2) and Tuesday (Y3-Y6)
Letters will be coming out next week about our Friends of Fordley led Hallowe'en discos which will be held on the last Friday of this half term.
We are now signed up to the 'It's Good to Grow' with Morrison's which means that we can earn a Grow Token for every time you spend £10 on your shopping.
The Grow Tokens can be exchanged for gardening equipment at school, and you know we love to garden at Fordley!
The link below takes you to the Good to Grow website where you will be able to find out more about the scheme:
Dear parents and carers,
This year we will be taking part in the Mental Health First Aid project which seeks to develop our schools approach to supporting pupil well being in general as well as anyone who may experience mental or emotional health issues. As we begin this project, we would greatly appreciated your opinions in terms of the support which we offer your child/children and, as such, ask that you please spare a few moments to complete the survey by clicking the link below.
Many thanks
Mr Maule
Deputy Headteacher and Mental Health First Aider
If your child is currently in Nursery or Y6, you will need to apply for your child’s school place for next September. There are deadlines for applications to North Tyneside Council and you may not get your school of choice if you do not apply in time. We are a growing school and we were almost at full capacity for Reception this year so please do not assume your child will get a place with us if you do not apply (and we would hate for your child to miss out on staying with us).
The deadlines are:
· Reception applications—14th January 2022
· Y7 (High School) applications—31st October 2021
You can apply online at North Tyneside Council by visiting https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/219/online-school-applications
Online copies of our most recent letters can be found here on our website, under 'News and Events' and then 'Letters'

Communication with Parents and Carers
You know how much we value our Fordley Family and the relationships we have with you all as part of our school community. We are looking forward to being able to re-introduce some family events in school but, at this time, we still need to be cautious. However we will be arranging family reading workshops this half term (more information will be sent out soon).
If you do need to speak to your child’s class teacher, or need a message passed to them, please email school at office@fordleyprimary.org.uk or ring the school office on our new number 0191 2502207
The message will be emailed to the class teacher and they will contact you that day if you need to speak to them directly.
We will share any key school letters, announcements and information via these methods:
If you need to come into the main school office for an urgent reason, please make sure you are wearing a face mask for the safety of everyone (unless you are exempt for medical reasons)
How will you continue to keep my child safe?
What happens if my child shows symptoms?
How can you help us this term?
You, our Fordley Family, are simply an amazing support to us and we love being at the heart of our fantastic community. You can continue to help us by:
Term Dates – 2021-22
Please note there are 5 training days for all schools in North Tyneside rather than 3.
Before School Childcare
Who can use this provision?
This will be available for parents/carers who need the childcare for work reasons only. This is because we will need to continue to keep the numbers low as we cannot predict the status of COVID-19 in September
We will continue to have ‘soft opening’ for all children between 8:30-8:50 and will offer a breakfast snack during this time.
How do I book a place?
If you need to book a place for your child at Before School Childcare, we will need to know a week in advance which days your child will be in the childcare provision. You can do this by emailing office@fordleyprimary.org.uk
If you do not need a place yet, but may in future, all we ask is that you email the week before you require a place to let us know which days.
If you have regular days each week, please just email at the start of the half term and that will be sufficient.
When and where can I drop my child off?
Children attending Before School Childcare can be brought to school between 8:00 – 8:15 (car park will be open until 8:15).
They will need to be taken (by an adult) to the following locations depending on their year groups (see map):
They will be signed in at these locations by a member of school staff.
Is there any charge for this provision?
Reception to Y6 No Charge - We currently access funding from Greggs to support with our provision for R-Y6 children only so, at this time, we do not charge for Reception to Year 6 children.
Nursery £1 per day - However, there is a £1 daily charge for Nursery children because we have to have a higher ratio of adults for Nursery children (and the Greggs funding does not cover this).
Please note:
Afterschool Childcare – September 2021
Who can use this provision?
This is available for parents/carers who need the childcare for work reasons only. At this time we cannot predict what September might look like with regard to COVID-19 so we will need to continue to maintain smaller numbers of children.
How do I book a place?
If you need to book a place for your child at Afterschool Childcare, we will need to know a week in advance which days your child will be in the childcare provision. You can do this by emailing office@fordleyprimary.org.uk
If you know that your days will always stay the same, just tell us this in your email and we will book your child in for the half term (rather than you having to email every week).
It is essential that you book in advance as we need to keep accurate registers to comply with test, track and trace regulations.
If you do not need a place yet, but may in future, all we ask is that you email the week before you require a place to let us know which days.
How do I collect my child from Afterschool Childcare?
Children can be collected from Afterschool Club by ringing the Afterschool Childcare number (07979684404) when you are at the main school entrance door, and your child will be brought to you by a member of staff. You will not be able to access the building for safeguarding reasons, so we request your patience whilst waiting for your child (feel free to wait in your car if it is raining).
How do I pay for the provision?
If you wish to pay us by bank transfer, please contact us on 0191 2502207 or email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk and ask to speak to Mrs Rowley. She will help you with this. If you need to pay by cash, please put it in an envelope and hand to a member of after school club staff when you collect your child.
Charges are as follows:
We will let you know if there are any outstanding balances on your account and we ask that you pay these promptly to make sure your child does not lose their place at afterschool club.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs C.L. Withers
Headteacher
We have just been informed of a positive case within school and, following a careful risk assessment and contact tracing, the positive case has been in close contact with the above named groups within 48 hours of them developing symptoms of COVID-19.
If this affects your child (and you should have had an email or a phone call if it does) they will need to isolate until midnight on Sunday 4th July.
Infection rates in North Tyneside are exceptionally high right now and many schools are having to close bubbles or ask identified close contacts to isolate.
It is never what we want to happen for any of our children, but we have a legal responsibility to follow the test and trace regulations from Public Health.
If you have any questions, please email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk
Kind regards
Claire Withers
