Dear Parent/Carer of child in 5/6LM,
Advice for Child to Self-Isolate for 14 Days
We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.
We have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected case. In line with the national guidance your child is now legally required to stay at home and self-isolate until midnight on 20th November.
Fines can now be issued if individuals who are told to self-isolate by Local Authority Public Health Teams or NHS Test and Trace do not self-isolate.
Your child must not go to school or any public areas: your child must remain at home. Further details of what your child needs to do are in NHS Guidance:
The reason your child is required to self isolate is reduce the further spread of COVID 19 to others in the community. If you need support with isolation, please contact North Tyneside Council on 0345 2000 101 or emailing contact.us@northtyneside.gov.uk.
Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the self-isolation period.
If your child is well at the end of the period of self-isolation, then they can return to usual activities.
What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19
For most people, especially children, COVID-19 will be a mild illness.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:
If your child develops any of these symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home and arrangements should be made for them to be tested. At that time all other household members must also stay at home, not go to work, school or public areas, even for exercise.
Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: nhs.uk/coronavirus
When the result of the child’s test is known further advice will be available.
How to stop COVID-19 spreading
There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

National Lockdown from 5th November – Update for Schools
As you will know there is a national lockdown from midnight tonight (Wednesday 4th November) until Wednesday 2nd December.
The link here gives all the details:

Schools, and other education settings, will remain open so we will continue as normal. We are genuinely delighted that we are able to remain open for our Fordley Family as the children are making fantastic progress and are so happy to be back, and so are we!
Are there any changes for schools?
These are the key points from the Department for Education:
Face coverings
In primary schools and education settings teaching year 6 and below, there is no change to the existing position. It is not mandatory for staff and visitors to wear face coverings. In situations where social distancing between adults in settings is not possible (for example when moving around in corridors and communal areas), settings have the discretion to recommend the use of face coverings for adults on site, for both staff and visitors.
Settings should restrict all visits to the setting to those that are absolutely necessary. This means suspending parent and carer visits for:
What do I, as a parent/carer, need to do?
What do I do if I need to speak to my child’s teacher?
Mrs Withers is available on the Reception path or KS1 yard and Mr Maule is available on the KS2 gates if you need a message passed to the teacher. Alternatively you can email office@fordleyprimary.org.uk or ring 2502207 and your child’s class teacher will ring you on the same day.
Parents phone calls will continue as planned (more details are on Latest News on our website https://www.fordleyschool.com/news/detail/autumn-term-phone-calls-home/ if you didn’t receive the letter)
If you have any further questions about this, please feel free to give us a ring or email the school office (as above). We all have a responsibility to keep each other safe and, while none of us like this current situation, we will get through it if we work together.
